nominated - the Saint Loye Awards 2019

When Morten Priisholm moved on to the second round of the Danish goldsmith craft competition, the Saint Loye Awards (named so after the patron-saint of goldsmiths), he was asked to make a creation inspired by the concept of power. Wanting to give his particular take on that, but also grounding his piece in a rough male world of physicality, Morten Priisholm decided to make a highly precious version of a sculpture. Magrethe, The queen of Denmark, attended to the exhibition at Koldinghus.

Only jewelers who run their own businesses can be selected. Princess Mary was present at the competition.

A men’s jewelry line for Aagaard 2017

As part of the Danish jewelry company Aagaard’s design-lab, Morten Priisholm was commissioned to design a line of men’s jewelry, comprised of seven signet rings, two pendants and two bracelets. The line was launched in 2017. The seven rings all owed their silhouettes to the historic signet ring. Two models – one round, the other octagonal in shape – featured a space intended for engraving. One had a graphic square with a deep-set field of oxidized silver in the center. Four of the rings had either oval, round of oval stone-inlays. As accessories for men, the geometric and well proportioned marked the collection, which was made of silver and oxidized silver, and set with onyx, tiger’s eye and lapis lazuli.

In August 2016, Morten Priisholm won the talent competition Brand New at the Copenhagen Watch and Jewellery Show in Denmark, for an impressive, large steampunk inspired signet ring. The motivation for choosing Morten Priisholm as the winner was based on criteria of innovation and commercial potential. His combination of traditional craftsmanship with new materials and techniques in a daring masculine language of men’s jewelry was highlighted by the competition’s jury.
